Osaka is a new restaurant with around 8 small teppanyaki tables and a sushi bar with around 10-12 stools. We went with some sushi-loving friends and sat at the sushi bar recently.

The miso soup was nice and simple, a good start to the meal. We ordered gyoza which was tasty although a bit damp. We had both veggie tempura and chicken tempura - the chicken tempura had a ton of veggies in it so the extra veggie tempura was a bit of overkill. The tempura batter was very thick on the items and a bit greasy.

Where Osaka really shone was in the actual sushi. We ordered enough that we have an attack fleet of boats taking up the entire sushi bar. The sushi slices were very nice and thick, quite good. We had a wide variety of sushi types and all were very good. We enjoyed the NY Roll, which was tempura salmon, mayo, cucumber and spicy sauce. The tempura salmon was nice, light and crunchy, and a great alternate to the rest of the sushi. We had tuna tataki as well, which was tasty.

They had a small selection of sakes and Champagnes, both which go very well with sushi. I had an Ozeki Dry (cold) sake, while my friends went through quite a bit of warm sake. We each enjoyed our choice.

In general we found the non-sushi food to be OK, nothing stellar, but quite acceptable for a mall-row Japanese restaurant. The sushi was really good, and if you go just for the sushi, you're sure to be very happy!
