I am a big fan of German restaurants, but there aren't many in Massachusetts. There is the Prince in Springfield, Jacob Wirth's in Boston, and maybe a tiny handful of others. We've made Jacob Wirth's a tradition to visit when we see the Nutcracker which until recently was right around the corner at the Wang theater.

The restaurant is rather large but still manages to feel cozy. There is a lot of rich, dark wood around. There of course is an ample beer menu, but there's also wines - including German wines - for those who wish to go the wine route. The menu has a variety of great offerings on it, from the widely popular German dishes to a few that are more obscure. The waitstaff is quite friendly and happy to help out.

This isn't a fancy place - it's pub casual, with a nice long bar and a lot of noise. Great for a night out before a Wang show!
